A New Smile. And the Freedom to Enjoy Food Again!
For most of us, sitting down to a good meal is one of life’s simple pleasures. But when teeth begin to fail, even everyday foods can become difficult to bite and chew.
When Daryl came to our Fixed Teeth Australia Gold Coast clinic, he was looking for a complete restoration of his upper and lower teeth – and the opportunity to regain the comfort and function that healthy teeth make possible.
His treatment would also highlight something many patients don’t realise: creating a great new smile depends on much more than the implants and teeth themselves.
The Challenge:
For Daryl, replacing his upper and lower teeth required careful planning to provide the stability and function needed for his new fixed bridges.
Successful full mouth dental implant treatment involves more than simply placing implants into the jawbone. The shape of the underlying bone and the condition of the surrounding gum tissue both play important roles in how the new teeth fit, function and can be maintained.
Getting these foundations right was a key consideration in Daryl’s treatment.
Treatment Plan:
Our team developed a treatment plan for immediate upper and lower All-Fixed Full Mouth Dental Implant restorations.
Fortunately, Daryl had sufficient bone in the right areas of his lower jaw to allow his implants to be placed in a straight position, rather than requiring the angled placement sometimes needed when bone availability is limited.
This helped make the implant placement more straightforward.
Particular attention was also given to carefully shaping the underlying jawbone and managing the surrounding gum tissue.
Meticulous preparation and suturing helped create the right contours for his new fixed bridges, allowing them to sit neatly against the gums while maintaining appropriate tissue around the implants.
This attention to detail is important not only for the fit and appearance of the new teeth, but also for ongoing cleaning and maintenance.
The Results:
With secure upper and lower fixed bridges in place, Daryl now has a natural-looking smile and the ability to enjoy foods that had previously been difficult to bite and chew.*
The careful preparation of the underlying bone and gum tissue provided a foundation for the fit and function of his new teeth.
Beyond the improvements in appearance and chewing function, addressing badly compromised teeth can also have important oral health benefits. Where teeth are affected by decay or infection, removing them can eliminate sources of harmful bacteria.
For Daryl, his new fixed teeth represent an opportunity to enjoy everyday pleasures like eating a varied diet and sharing meals without the same difficulties associated with his previous teeth.
A Focus on Health, Function and the Details That Matter:
Daryl’s story reminds us that full mouth dental implants are about much more than creating an attractive smile.
The ability to bite and chew comfortably is important for enjoying a varied diet, while the health of the surrounding gums and supporting structures plays an essential role in the long-term care of dental implants.
At Fixed Teeth Australia, we pay particular attention to the details patients may never see – from implant positioning to shaping the underlying bone and surrounding gum tissue.
Because creating a new smile isn’t just about how the teeth look on the day they’re fitted. It’s also about providing the right foundations for comfort, function and ongoing oral health.
Understanding Dental Implants and Oral Health
Can full mouth dental implants help you eat a wider variety of foods?
For suitable patients, fixed dental implant bridges can restore biting and chewing function that may have been limited by missing teeth, failing teeth or unstable dentures.
During the initial healing period, patients must follow dietary instructions and avoid foods that could place excessive pressure on their new implants.
Why is healthy gum tissue important around dental implants?
The condition and shape of the surrounding gum tissue can affect how well implant-supported bridges fit and how easily they can be cleaned.
Careful treatment planning, good daily oral hygiene and ongoing professional maintenance all play important roles in supporting long-term implant health.
